Anime Mid-Atlantic from Hell.

June 23rd, 2008

Just letting you all know that Alia stopped by Anime Mid-Atlantic in its new (and crappy) location at Virginia Beach.  This used to be a Richmond con, but the dirty bastids decided to take it away from us.

At least we have photos!  Be sure to drop by the gallery to see them.

Stumblin’ Back

May 23rd, 2008

I’m sure you’re all wondering why the site hasn’t been updated in over two months.  I’ve been sick… really sick.  I came to find out I had mono but it was a long long time before they figured out why I was getting sick 4-5 days out of every week.  Then they came to find out I had acid reflux.  Luckily my health has improved and everything was fixable, but for a while there I was unable to do a lot of things.

No worries though!  Ever diligent, Raven sets out on her quest to bring Cosplazy back to its former glory… AND MORE!

Cosplazy.com Needs YOU!

Would you like to be a writer for Cosplazy.com’s cosplay disasters blog? If you think you have what it takes to join our staff of sarcastic, insane, and downright bitchy writers, please send the following information to kelly[at]ravenne.net. You don’t have to be crazy about cosplay, but any knowledge of anime, manga, and video games is a definite plus.

  • Name
  • Birthdate (day, month, year)
  • Country and State/Province
  • How often you’d be able to write for the blog
  • Information on past qualifying experience

In addition to this, you must write a response to one of the photos used in a previous cosplay disaster blog on the site as if you were writing for the blog itself. It must be no less than 250 words and in paragraph form (refer to previous blog entries). Along with this, please include the amount of time it took you to write this response.

Katsu ‘08 Photos Batch 1

February 18th, 2008

Alrighty you guys, here’s the first 50-something photos from Katsucon. There should be about another 50 more coming up within the next week. Please note that if you were given a Cosplazy business card while getting your photo taken, your photo is currently up on the website.

I’ll start labeling them once I get some sleep ::dies::

You can find the photos by either selecting Katsucon 2008 from the Gallery drop-down menu above or by clicking here.

Katsu ‘08 Photos (Up-and-coming!)

February 18th, 2008

So I just have to find my USB cord and I’ll upload the photos for this year’s Katsucon.  I can’t say I took too many, but I’ll be getting a lot more once I get in touch with Miko and Zach (who I’ve been referring to thus far as my ex-fiance).

There just really weren’t too many amazing things to take pictures of.

$50 for Nothing Extraordinary

February 18th, 2008

I can’t say I was entirely too happy with the $50 entry fee this year at Katsu.  My expectations were, to say in the least bit, HEIGHTENED IMMENSELY due to the $20 jack-up in their price.  Yet somehow I found myself having one of the worst times I’ve ever had at a con.  In other words: dood, Katsu blowed.  For serious.
I really want to see if I can write a con review for Chambers (of CLS).  I have so much more I want to say, but really don’t feel as if posting it in the news blog is the best thing to do.

I think I posted the contest just a little too late for anyone to even see it.  I didn’t end up giving out any prizes.  Oh well, there’s always next con, right?  I might have to wait a few cons though considering my next ones are going to be on the west coast and we sure as hell haven’t even advertised out there.  VIRGIN MARKET!

So pretty much what I ended up doing at the con was walk.  A lot.  And sleep.  I barely ate though, which blew… but not half as much as the $50 I wasted on the con.  I went to the rave on Friday night and the music sucked.  We gave away brownies to the artists on Friday and free cake to random people in the hallway on Saturday.  Hopefully some pictures will emerge of me and my ex-fiance (now boyfriend) sitting half-dead in the hallway with a large cake carrier and a very poorly crafted sign that said, “FREE CAKE!  And no, the cake is not a lie.  Srsly.”

I have to say though, I enjoyed seeing my loads of con friends for what will probably be the last time in a WHILE.

Katsucontest! Amazing prizes!

February 15th, 2008

Hey there Katsu-congoers!  Because we’re SO friggin’ generous here at Cosplazy, we’d like to give you a chance to win stuff.  All you have to do is post somewhere on yourself, whether it be a badge or a rudimentary piece of paper taped to your shirt the word COSPLAZY.  If one of the Cosplazy staff members sees you, we’ll give you a prize!  Depending on how much work you put in to your blatant advertising of our website, you may win something really awesome.

Here are some of the prizes:

  • Brand new red butterfly print obi!
  • Large pink floral yukata!
  • Japanese stationary sets!
  • Devious vibrating mokona plushie!
  • And many more mystery prizes that have yet to be announced…

Sound cool?  Shit son, I think so.

Katsu and the Sleeping Jorge

February 15th, 2008

Okay, before proceeding I’d like to state that Jorge is pronounced WHORE-HEY not GEORGE.

Alrighty, now that we have that established I’d like to tell you all about Cosplazy’s plans at Katsucon!

First, and most important of all is the fact that I will be bringing my new friend Jorge along, even though we just became acquainted YESTERDAY. I’ll also be bringing my ex-fiance. Unfortunately Chambers was unable to make it because it was a bit too expensive (that pastey bastard) but nevertheless fun will be had.

So for you Katsu-crazy muthas, here’s the schedule so far of things I’m planning to attend:

Today
@ 11:30PM - The “Dance” (Main Events)

Saturday
@ 5:15AM - Xenosaga: The Animation (Live 1)
@ 1:00PM - Plus-sized Cosplay (Workshop)
@ 10:15PM - Appleseed: Ex Machina (Video 2)
@ Midnight - The “Dance” (Main Events)

And who the hell knows what I’m doing on Sunday.

Katsu is ON, beetches!

February 2nd, 2008

Our friend Chambers from our sister site Caffeinated Lifestyle might be coming down from New York to join us at Katsucon ‘08!  He’s currently working on a redesign for his site (if you can recall, he helped out with our current design) and enlisted my help, so it would be the perfect opportunity for us to get some work done.

Being the like-minded dorks we are, that wouldn’t even begin to cover the amount of things that could be accomplished at this convention… if only he were to come!  Apparently my promises of many attractive women aren’t working… perhaps with a little help I can persuade him?  I created a thread on CLS to try and get his buddies to convince him to come

I actually don’t have to work at this con, so it should be AWESOME!

The 411 on Cosplazy

January 11th, 2008

As you all have probably noticed, Cosplazy hasn’t been very active for the past month or so.  Unfortunately, when you live in the middle of nowhere, you have a large span of time when there are no anime conventions in your area.

Fortunately, that won’t be the case for much longer.  Some time within the next few months I’m going to be moving to Las Vegas.  For those of you who are a little rusty on your geography (or common sense), Nevada is right next to California which holds at LEAST 12 conventions annually.  Let’s not forget Arizona, either.

So, for the time being I’m busting my ass to get the money together to leave this shithole cow town.  In my spare time, I’m helping my friend Kendray run the Cosplazy Gaia Charity.

So that’s it for now, folks.
